Conoce a Stefan Zweig:
Escritor austriaco, Stefan Zweig fue muy conocido en las primeras décadas del siglo XX gracias a sus relatos, novelas, ensayos y semblanzas biográficas.
De origen judío, Zweig nació en una familia acomodada y estudió Filosofía en la Universidad de Viena, interesándose desde entonces en la literatura, tanto desde un punto de vista crítico como creativo. En 1901 publicó su primer poemario y, desde entonces, mantuvo una intensa actividad en diversos campos y géneros, pasando del ensayo a la novela o al teatro con facilidad.
Destacó también por sus firmes posiciones éticas en contra de la guerra, que le llevaron durante la I Guerra Mundial a exiliarse a Suiza, donde se estableció como corresponsal. Durante varios años Zweig se dedicó a escribir y a viajar, pasando por Alemania y la Unión Soviética, trabando amistad con numerosos intelectuales de la época.
Tras el auge del nacionalsocialismo en Austria y Alemania, decidió establecerse en Londres, ya que su origen judío y sus posiciones pacifistas le situaron en una incómoda posición, siendo su obra prohibida por el régimen nazi. Vivió también en París y viajó por América Latina dando una serie de conferencias.
En 1942, convencido de que la Alemania nazi iba a ganar la guerra y someter al mundo a sus ideales, Zweig se suicidó junto a su segunda esposa. Poco después, en 1944, aparecería su autobiografía, El mundo de ayer.
Su producción literaria, pese a su éxito en la época, cayó progresivamente en el olvido durante la mayor parte del siglo XX, hasta su recuperación décadas después, siendo obra de estudio por críticos y académicos. De hecho, sus relatos han formado parte de obras como la película El Gran Hotel Budapest, dirigida en 2014 por Wes Anderson.
De entre sus libros, habría que destacar títulos tan importantes como Novela de ajedrez, Amok, El amor de Erika Wald o María Antonieta,biografía que fue llevada al cine.
